Medicine Hat, AB to Gull Lake School in Gull Lake, SK
Woke up this morning, took a look at the hallway lights that were on all night. I couldn't sleep in well this morning with the combination of the lights and the people getting up around me.
Poorage with brown sugar to scoop was my breakfast highlight. We've been using brown sugar packets up till now and those just don't give enough sweetness. Frosted Flakes or Fruit Loops have been my back up. The canned mixed fruit gives my breakfast and little rounding. I especially enjoy the papaya.
I felt slow for the first 75km. I dragged. William, Caleb, and I picked up two other riders to make a drafting group but I got too tired to keep up with them. At the third rest stop (near 75km) I got revived by the support of Assembly of God church in Maple Creek, SK. I got my bike shoes off and feet into some cool water. They had Frozen mixed fruit and a few baked goods to snack on. I had felt so drained before that stop but within 5km after I felt good for the rest of the ride!
The ride was long. Despite feeling so much better, all my contact points with my bike still were sore. My feet, my hands, and my butt felt the hours of pressure. Wind was mostly a crosswind with occasional help as the highway curved. We were on the TransCanada today and will be again tomorrow, making our way to Regina, SK for the weekend. The plains are not necessarily completely flat but they are vast. Each turn and hill can be appreciated to break the manatony.
